Description:

This isn't a long book. In fact, it takes place in just 24 hours, much like the show 24, but without the explosions or the ticking clock. It's a day-in-the-life guide to a different kind of intensity: the practice of mindful gratitude. This is a short, personal guide to living a life of mindful gratitude by acknowledging the profound inter connection of all things. It is a simple yet powerful testa ment to the idea that by recognizing and being grateful for our deep connection to everything around us, we can live a more contented and peaceful life.
You and I own nothing. These clothes, these chairs, this bed, these plates—everything that surrounds us is not ours. They exist to make our lives comfortable and bear able. Still don't believe me? Point to something you made yourself. Everything belongs to no one. You might claim you made a chair, but did you create the tree it was built from? You might argue, "I bought this blanket with my own money, so it's mine." But did you create the money? "No, I worked for it," you might reply. But did you create the job? "I used my body and planted crops to sell, so this
is mine," you might insist. Did you create the plants you planted? Did you create the soil?
Nothing is yours. Nothing is mine. Not even our bodies. Have you ever thought of the body as a collection of water and food from the soil, animated by a force or energy that makes it function?
By now, you might be asking, "What's your point?" It's simple. This force, this energy that makes our hearts pump blood 24/7, that keeps us breathing even while we sleep—this sleepless force is what others call a higher power. I call it energy or force. You can call it God, even if you don't believe. It works without any effort from us.
This force owns everything we claim, including our bodies. If this force ever leaves, our bodies will no longer be "ours." They will return to the soil, decay, and provide fertile ground for new life. And they won't take any of the things we call ours with them.
